Building or buying a new home is a big investment in life & its the type of thing most people only do once or twice, so you what to make sure you get it right.

The first thing you should do when thinking to build or buy is go and visit your lender to see how much you can afford to spend and if there is anything you can do to help boost your lending ability. Remember to not over commit yourself how ever, you still need to be able to live, take that holiday or go out for dinner.

Once you have spoken to your lender and they have given you an firm idea of your budget it will make for a much smoother quote process because lets face it, who wants to sit down and design something, get their heart set on something to then find out that its out of reach.. no one! so first things first.

When getting your quotes make sure you are getting full comprehensive quotes that list exactly what is included for you price and make sure you compare apples with apples! Being such a big investment you need to make sure you’re not just selecting your builder on the cheapest quote as one may not necessarily include the same inclusion or quality as another.

Our biggest tips when getting quotes are;  go in prepared with a list of Must haves & luxury items but most importantly go in with an honest budget! You need to be upfront and honest about your budget with your builder, any great builder will sit down with you and workout a design to suit your needs and budget.
