When heating our homes its the simple small changes that can have a huge impact on your homes efficiency and running cost. In the cooler months insure that the windows are doors are not left open eg. if someone comes to your front door rather than standing in the doorway for a chat make sure you close the door behind you if your guest isn’t coming in. Another way to use your heating more effectively for those of you with ducted gas systems is keeping your system running more regularly. Did you know it is more efficient and lowers running costs to leave your system running through the day just set to a lower temperature, then bumping the temperature up once the family with be home. That way our system isn’t needing to use as much Gas to bring the temperature right back up. Most of these systems are programmable which is something you should take advantage of but setting them to work according to your families lifestyle.

When building a new home energy efficiency is something we always recommend thinking about. By orientating your home to make the most of the sun and investing a small extra amount into your initial building cost upgrading things like insulation and glazing to double glazing will be more than worth it throughout the lifetime of your home. With the ever growing rise in electricity and utility prices taking comfort in the fact that by investing an being smart with efficient choices will save on the overall running cost of your home. Just like electrical appliance a new home can also have an energy rating certificate generated showing a star rating of how energy efficient the home is & we believe with the change in culture with people being more energy conscious this can add value to your homes sale price.
